Colonel Eric Thompson

Colonel Thompson is a native of San Diego, California. He graduated from California State University, Chico with a BA in Political Science.
 

As a company grade officer, his operational assignments include Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines (Operations Sudden Storm and Desert Fox with 31st MEU); Platoon Commander, First Force Reconnaissance Company,(OEF with 13th MEU); Marine Special Operations Command Detachment One (OIF with CJSOTF-AP); Company Commander, 1st Battalion, 3d Marines (OEF).
 

As a field grade officer, his operational assignments include Operations Officer and Executive Officer, 1st Battalion, 3d Marines (OIF); Commanding Officer, 3d Reconnaissance Battalion; A/CS G-3, MARFORRES; Commanding Officer, Marine Raider Support Group, MARSOC Chief of Staff, and Deputy Commander, MARSOC

 

His supporting establishment assignment was as OIC of Basic Reconnaissance Course, EWTGPAC.


His joint duties include J33 Operations Officer, US Northern Command and; Operations Officer, US Department of State Counterterrorism Bureau (Foreign Emergency Support Team).
 

Colonel Thompson's civilian and military education include: Infantry Officer's  Course, Marine Corps Basic Reconnaissance Course, Army Ranger School, Airborne and Military Freefall Course, SERE, Marine Combatant Diver School, EWS non-resident, Marine Command and Staff with Masters in Military Studies, Top Level School at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Joint Forces Staff College, Norfolk.
 

Col Thompson's personal awards and decorations include: Legion of Merit, 2 Bronze Star Medals (1 w/ "V") Defense Meritorious Service Medals, 2 Meritorious Service Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation, 2 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, Combat Action Ribbon, and 7 Sea Service Deployment ribbons. He has also been recognized as Camp Lejeune's most lethal Colonel for the last 4 years.
 

He is married to "The Rocket" Christina (Chris) from Parts Unknown and has three tremendous children, Isabella Remi, Mia Madeline, and Gunner Max. Remi is CLHS's Softball MVP for the last 3 years, Mia is a Champion Equestrian, and Gunner is a lockdown defender for Jacksonville Area Soccer Association with numerous 1st place trophies. All 3 are honor role students.
